Prosthetics

prostheticsProsthetics is a branch of medical profession dealing with the design, production, and use of artificial body parts. All prostheses are designed for functional or cosmetic reasons or both.

An internal prosthesis is an artificial substitute or replacement of a part of the body such as a tooth, eye, a facial bone, the palate, a hip, a knee or another joint, the leg, an arm, etc. These types of prosthetic devices are permanently implanted, like an artificial hip, testicle or tooth.

External prosthesis may be removable, as in the case of most prosthetic legs, arms, hand, foot, or a prosthetic breast form used after mastectomy. A person who uses an external prosthesis: for example, an artificial leg – may want to have more than one available for different types of tasks. You may want to have a prostheses for running, one for every day use and even one to take a shower or swim with.

Most prostheses are custom made right here in our state of the art lab by our prosthetic technicians who have years of experience making and servicing prosthetics and orthotics.

Our practitioner in prosthetics is Richard Rocco, Jr.. He is certified by The American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics, the premier in O & P credentialing, and licensed in Ohio and Kentucky.
